Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Workplan Addendum for Jay's Mini Mart, 3302 North West Lane, Stockton,
California
Dear Ms. McCartney:
ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) has prepared this letter to serve as an addendum to ATC's January 12,
2006, Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation prepared on behalf of Mr. Jay M`Ilrath
relating to proposed subsurface investigation activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1). This
addendum has been prepared pursuant to February 6, 2006, correspondence from you and Mr. Nuel
Henderson of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD).
Proposed Soil Boring Locations
Subsequent to submittal of the above referenced workplan, ATC reviewed the SJCEHD regulatory
file for the subject site to evaluate initial corrective actions conducted by others at the site and the
associated data. Information contained in the SJCEHD file reviewed by ATC indicates a soil sample
was collected from the eastern ends of the two dispenser islands formerly located in the southern
portion of the site in November 1997 at depths ranging from three to four feet below ground surface.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were reportedly not detected in these soil samples. ATC concurs with the
SJCEHD recommendation to eliminate the previously proposed boring located south of the former ----
location of the southernmost fuel dispenser, and the two previously proposed borings located east and
west of the former locations of the southern fuel dispensers. ATC also proposes to advance a boring
north of the underground storage tanks in the landscaped area along the property boundary.
Petroleum impacted soil was encountered beneath the northwestern portion of the westernmost
underground storage tank in November of 1997.
The borings will be advanced using the methodology previously indicated in the workplan dated ,
January 12, 2006. A total of six soil borings are proposed. The locations of the borings are shown on
Figure 2. As stated in the January t2, 2006, workplan, if sufficient groundwater is encountered above
the terminal depth of the borings, grab groundwater samples will be collected and submitted for
laboratory analyses. Selected soil samples and potential groundwater samples will be analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg) and total petroleum hydrocarbons
quantified as diesel (TPHd) by EPA Method 8015M, and benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and
xylenes (BTEX), methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), t-butanol (TBA), ethyl dibromide (EDB), and 1,2-
dichloroethane (1,2-DCA)by EPA Method 8260B.
1
