• INTRODUCTION <br /> GHH Engineering, Inc (GHH)is currently providing professional engineering services to West <br /> Lane Fuel (West Lane) to assist them with environmental issues pertaining to their site located at <br /> 3302 N West Lane, Stockton, California, as shown on Figures 1 and 2 Mr Jay McErath, of <br /> West Lane, has authorized GHH to prepare this Additional Assessment Report(AAR) to present <br /> the results of the drilling and sampling of three geoprobes (SB-2, SB-3, SB-4) conducted on May <br /> 22-23, 2003 <br /> This report is being submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (County) and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) to <br /> document the work completed in accordance with the Additional Assessment Workplan <br /> (Workplan)prepared by GHH, dated May 2002 <br /> BACKGROUND AND HISTORY <br /> Site Description and History <br /> The site is currently a retail convenience store and gas station located on the northeast corner of <br /> West Lane and Alpine Avenue in a commercial area of east Stockton The property is asphalt <br /> paved and houses one rectangular-shaped store/office building and two active dispenser island <br /> locations which are to the west of the store/office as shown on Figure 2 The site formerly <br /> contained three underground storage tanks (UST) and three fuel dispenser islands The new UST <br /> were installed in the same location the former UST were pulled from, in the northern portion of <br /> the site <br /> According to the USGS Stockton West Quadrangle map, the site is approximately 19-feet above <br /> Mean Sea Level (MSL) The closest surface water body is the Calaveras River, located <br /> approximately 3,500-feet north of the subject site <br /> Summary of Previous Investigations <br /> In 1997, three gasoline dispensing UST were removed Soil samples collected up to 24-feet bgs ` <br /> at the base of the former UST excavation reported lugh concentrations of total petroleum Gm <br /> hydrocarbons, as gasoline (TPH G), as diesel (TPH D),benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total tit-I 1 `pPIL <br /> xylenes, (BTEX) and fuel oxygenates One soil sample was reported to contain methyl tertiary <br /> butyl ether (MTBE) at a concentration of 0 650 mg/kg Based on the soil data, the Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board(Regional Board)required drilling of a single soil boring <br /> and the collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analyses <br /> On August 11, 2000, John P Cummings &Associates (JPCA) attempted to drill a soil boring <br /> with a push ng,but encountered refusal at 25-feet bgs On September 7, 2000, JPCA completed <br /> the soil boring (B-1) to 53-feet bgs using a rotary auger drill rig <br />
