V
AUWyEp$
OESKV{RSCONSULTM75
3.0 RESULTS
3.1 HYDROGEOLOGY
Soil beneath the former location of the UST, as encountered in borings SB-1 and SB-4, consisted
of silty sand to between 21 and 31 feet bgs underlain by clay to between 51 and 55 feet bgs.
The clay was underlain by silty sand and sand to at least 66.5 feet bgs. Soil up-gradient of the
former location of the UST, as encountered in boring SB-3, consisted of clay to between 56 and
60 feet bgs. A lens of sand was present within the clay at 21 feet bgs. The clay was underlain
by silty sand and sand to at least 66.5 feet bgs. Soil down-gradient of the former location of
the UST, as encountered in boring SB-2, consisted of clay and, clayey sand to between 56 and
60 feet bgs underlain by silty sand and sand to at least 66.5 feet bgs.
In borings SB-1, SB-2, and SB-3 groundwater was first encountered at 65 feet bgs. In SB-2 and
SB-3 groundwater rose to approximately 60 feet bgs within the Hydropunch sampler (screened
from 67 feet to 70 feet bgs). Based on the soil descriptions and water levels, an aquifer is
present beneath the site at 60 feet to at least 70 feet bgs.
In summary, silty sand underlies the former UST to approximately 25 feet bgs. This silty sand
was not present up-gradient of the former UST(this depth interval was not logged down-gradient
r
of the former UST). Below the silty sand and up- and down-gradient of the former UST clay
is present to approximately 56 feet bgs. The clay is underlain by silty sand and sand to at least
66.5 feet bgs.
3.2 SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil and groundwater analytical results are presented in Tables 3 and 4, respectively. Appendix
B contains the laboratory analytical report.
TPH-G and BTEX compounds were not were not detected in soil samples submitted for analysis.
TPH-G and BTEX compounds were also not detected in the groundwater sample collected at SB-
1 (beneath the former UST) and at SB-3 (presumed up-gradient of the former UST). In the
groundwater sample collected at SB-2 (presumed down-gradient of the former UST) TPH-G and
benzene were detected at 0.22 mg/L and 0.7 ug/L, respectively.
In the groundwater sample collected from SB-1 zinc was detected at 0.1 mg/L and hydrocarbons,
oil and grease, cadmium, chromium, lead, nickel, PCBs, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and gasoline
oxygenates were not detected.
v p
LA....\PEPBOYSXVVMLN.REP O Na.1997
v
