1
Closure Summary Report
MANTECA CITY CORPORATION YARD
210 East Wetmore Street,Manteca, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Frederic Clark of the City of Manteca, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE)has prepared this Closure Summary Report(CSR)summarizing all
field activities conducted at 210 East Wetmore Street,Manteca,California(the site).Based upon the
results of site investigations and the mitigation of the former underground storage tank(UST) area
at the site, it is AGE's opinion that a site closure is warranted for this facility. The site setting is
illustrated on Figure 1;the layout of the property, including site building structures and the locations
of the former USTs, existing monitoring wells, and soil borings, is depicted on Figure 2.
This CSR has been prepared in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines (Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations For Preliminary
Investigations and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites) for No Further Action Requests (See
Appendix A).
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is located in a commercial/industrial area of South Manteca,California,at an approximate
elevation of 35 feet above mean sea level (MSL). Thee site is presently occupied by the City of
Manteca Corporation Yard.Currently the site operates above-ground fuel storage tanks(ASTs)that
have been installed over the former UST pit location. There are no other apparent source areas for
the identified contaminants on the site.
2.1. UST REMOVAL
One 10,000-gallon diesel UST (TK1), one 10,000-gallon leaded gasoline UST (TK2), and one
10,000-gallon unleaded gasoline UST(TK3)were removed from the site on 05 August 1999. Two
soil samples were collected from beneath each UST and eight samples were collected from the soil
stockpile.Methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE)was detected in three of the six soil samples collected
beneath the USTs, at concentrations as high as 0.32 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). Petroleum
hydrocarbons and other fuel oxygenates were not detected in samples collected beneath the USTs.
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel(TPH-d)were detected in
stockpile samples, at concentrations as high as 4.8 mg/kg and 40 mg/kg, respectively. ASTs and a
concrete pad have subsequently been installed over the former USTs location. Analytical results of
soil samples collected from the UST removal can be found in Table 1.
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
