06 January 2006
AGE-NC Project No 99-0637
of Health Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed
' for
• Fuel additives including methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),di-isopropyl ether(DIPS), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA),
ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA
' Method 8260B
' 3.0. FINDINGS
' Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
12 August 2005 The MTBE-impact to ground water was quantified from the laboratory analysis of
the ground water samples
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
At the time of the August 2005 sampling event, depths to ground water ranged from 17 71 feet to
19 56 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged 14 55 feet
above mean sea level (MSL) in well MW-6 to 14 99 feet above MSL in well MW-1 (Table 1)
Ground water elevations at the site averaged approximately 14 81 feet above MSL showing an
elevation decrease of approximately 2 56 feet since the last monitoring event
Ground water flow was inferred to be flowing generally toward the southwest, away from the former
UST area at an average gradient of 0 003 ft/ft, and toward the north at an average gradient of 0 011
ft/ft in the northern portion of the site, in the area of well MW-10 Figure 3 illustrates the contoured
ground water elevations as measured on 12 August 2005
'
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
IMTBE was detected in the sample collected from well MW-4 at a concentration of 30 micrograms
per liter(pg/1) No other fuel additives were detected in the August 2005 ground water samples
The analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory
report (MAI Work Order 0508245), QA/QC report and chain of custody form are included in
Appendix B GeoTracker confirmation pages of the submitted laboratory electronic deliverable
format (EDF) files are included in Appendix C
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
