29 March 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0637: ;
Page 5 of 6
3:3. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES:
A total of.7 soil sampleswere analyzed for TPH=g,TPH-d,BTEX,MTBE and seven fuel additives.
MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8260 in the soil sample.collected from MW5 at 20 feet.at a ;
concentration of 0.51 mg/kg.No other analytes were.detected at or above-laboratory reporting.limits i
in the soil ' samples analyzed. The ,approximate .extent of impacted soil is depicted on
Figures 4, 5.arid 6.
r' Analytical results of soil samplesare summarized on.Table 2.The laboratory reports(MAI Lab I.D.
No 89157 through.89162 and 89928), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) report and
chain-of-custody forms are included.in Appendix E.
3.4. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUNDWATER SAMPLES
f TPH-g was detected in the ground water sample collected from MW5 at a concentration of 110 µg/1.
MTBE was detected'by EPA-Method 8020 in the ground water samples collected from MW 1,.MW2,
MW4, MW5 and MW6 at concentrations-as-high as 3,900 -µg/l (MW4) and confirmed .by EPA
-at concentrations as high,as 4 200 1.-No other analytes were
. Method 8260 In the.same samples. c .µg/ yt -
detected at or,above laboratory reporting limits in theground water samples.
The analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table-3..The laboratory reports
(MAI Lab I.D.No 89.494 through 89500),QA/QC reportand chain-of-custody form are included in .
Appendix F.
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data.collected from-the site,AGE concludes: -'
• Ground water flow at the site on 31 January 2002-was inferred to be generally toward the.
northeast at a gradient.of 0.002 feet/feet. S
• Generally, light brown to tan, dry to saturated,poorly-graded sand was encountered from
t surface grade to 'approximately 10 feet:bsg and at-20 feet bsg. Gray to brown, damp to =
. saturated,sandy silt and silty clay was encountered at 15 feet bsg,25 feet bsg and 30 feet bsg.
MTBE was detected'by EPA Method 8260 in the soil sample collected from MW5 at 20 feet
at a'concentration of 0.51 mg/kg.
