RINGS OF FIRE
When making up a list of emergency
contacts include
0 Phone numbers
Fax numbers
►^ Addresses
ib Radio frequencies and
0 Pager numbers
Typically, a tire fire can be a long
campaign. Also locate sources of food,
fresh water, snacks, portable latrines, and
shade structures for resting fire fighters.
Plan Your Attack
Consider, before the fire, your best and
worst case tire fire scenarios. Then
formulate a plan of attack for each. With
the owner's permission, schedule a drill on
site and test the viability of your pre-
incident plan.
SUMMARY
The response your department makes to a
tire fire could very well hinge on the
quality of information developed in the
pre-incident plan. Sharing this
information between agencies will reduce
potential conflict and confusion on the fire
scene. The pre-incident plan is the first
step towards a successful suppression
effort.
42
