LFR Levine-Fricke <br /> Equipment with articulated upright booms or masts shall not be permitted to pass <br /> within 20 feet of an overhead utility line (less than 50 kV) while the boom is in the <br /> upright position. For transmission lines in excess of 50 kV, an additional distance of 4 <br /> inches for each 10 kV over 50 kV will be used. <br /> 6.7 Biological Hazards <br /> Biological hazards that may be encountered at the Site include possible exposure to: <br /> • Fur-bearing animals. Animals may potentially carry the rabies virus or ticks that <br /> may transmit Lyme disease to humans. Avoid contact. Do not attempt to feed or <br /> touch. <br /> • Poisonous reptiles. Primarily snakes (rattlesnake, water moccasin, copperhead). <br /> Avoid contact and areas that may harbor snake populations including high grass, <br /> shrubs, and crevices. <br /> • Poisonous insects. Common examples include bees and wasps. Avoid contact with <br /> insects and their hives. <br /> • Spiders. The black widow and brown recluse spiders are the most venomous. <br /> Avoid contact with spiders and areas where they may hide. <br /> • Poisonous plants. Common examples include poison ivy and poison oak. Avoid <br /> contact. Long-sleeved shirts and pants will allow some protection against <br /> inadvertent contact. <br /> If any biological hazards are identified at the Site, workers in the area will immediately <br /> notify the SSO and other site personnel. <br /> 6.8 Lightning/Electrical Storms <br /> Lightning can be unpredictable and may strike many miles in front of, or behind, a <br /> thunderstorm. Workers will therefore cease field operations at the first sign of a <br /> thunderstorm and suspend activities until at least 30 minutes after the last observed <br /> occurrence of lightning or thunder. For purposes of this HSP, signs of a thunderstorm <br /> will include any visible lightning or audible thunder. <br /> In the event of a thunderstorm, workers will take the following actions: <br /> • Get inside a permanent building structure (not a shed or canopy) or fully enclosed <br /> metal vehicle (not a convertible or camper shell) with the windows fully up. <br /> • Stay away from tall isolated objects, such as trees, drill rigs, telephone poles, or <br /> flag poles. <br /> • Avoid large open areas, such as fields or parking lots, where a person is the <br /> relatively highest object. <br /> Page A-10 HSP-Tn<yTireFim-GWS=plingjah <br />
