sb <br /> 1.0 Introduction <br /> r <br /> 1.1 Purpose <br /> The purpose of this Health and Safety Plan [HSP] is the prevention of occupationally related <br /> accidents, exposures, and illnesses for personnel performing work activities specific to this <br /> plan. Accordingly, the policies set forth in the HSP are to: <br /> Provide a safe working environment; <br /> -k- Conduct operations within the guidelines of safety reouirements: <br /> ".i <br /> } , Comply with appropriate government regulations [i.e., CCRs and CFRs], and other <br /> related recommendations for employee health and safety: <br /> 4= Maintain high standards of performance concerning environmental protection, <br />=.t industrial health, and fire safety; <br /> } - Ensure prospective project workers are aware of the hazards associated with the site <br /> activities and the related protective measures. <br /> Some procedures involved in response activities are primarily concerned with general health <br /> > and safety. In concept and principle, these are independent of the type of incident, but are <br /> adapted or modified to meet site-specific reQuirements. Other response activities associated <br /> with an incident are unioue. Each hazardous materials incident must be evaluated to determine <br /> its hazards and risks. Various types of environmental samples or measurements may be needed <br /> i initially to determine the hazards or to provide additional information for continuing <br /> 't assessment. Efforts are reQuired to prevent or reduce harmful substances from migrating from <br />-,i the site due to natural or human activities. Containment, cleanup, and disposal activities will <br /> be required. Each of these activities reQuires that onsite personnel be protected form existing <br /> ,t or potential hazards. The following HSP describes in detail how the remediation operations at <br /> the Tracy Tire Fire Site [TTFS/Site] will be handled. <br /> 1.2 Scope of Work <br /> This HSP covers operations to be performed by LFR Levine Fricke [LFRj and Sukut <br /> Construction, Inc. [SUKUT] during all activities relating to the remediation activities at <br /> t the TTFS. This HSP will be utilized to ensure that adeQuate site safety practices are <br /> utilized throughout all construction activities.
