Tire fires have been identified by EPA as a type of incident that qualifies for
reimbursement under this program. Local governments can be reimbursed up to$25,000 per
incident for costs incurred in performing temporary emergency response measures. Costs must be
incurred as a direct result of the response. To be reimbursed, each agency that responded to this
tire fire must properly document eligible costs and certify that your agency did not have money in
the budget for these extraordinary costs. Eligible costs include:
• Expendable materials and supplies
• Renting or leasing equipment
• Special technical and laboratory services
4 Evacuation services
• Decontamination of equipment
• Overtime pay for employees
0 Replacement of equipment lost or destroyed
