The test as conducted in 1986 <br /> measured the contaminants in an order of magnitude less precise <br /> than by today's standards. Today, we have the technology to <br /> detect benzene in soil as low as 0 .5 ppb and while the report <br /> indicates that the soil was "non-detect" for benzene, it is <br /> possible that benzene contamination is present. As you know, <br /> further investigation of this site is critical because <br /> groundwater contamination has been documented in this area and <br /> the City of Stockton site has confirmed unauthorized releases on <br /> its east and west sides. <br /> Because of the improvements in testing methodology and <br /> detection limits over the past seven years and site location, we <br /> respectfully request that your office reopen the City of Stockton <br /> 101 South Wilson Way site file and request the owners of the site <br /> and/or the owners of the tanks to conduct further testing for <br /> soil and/or groundwater contamination beneath where the tanks <br /> were removed. <br /> We look forward to your timely response to our request.
