i
IX (D), Corrective costs incurred
The Knowles to date have not incurred any costs on either the tank removal operation
and the site investigation conducted by previous and current property owners The
Knowles are submitting this application based upon costs that would be incurred by
them for future site investigation and remediation undertaken by them This is because
the San Joaquin County Health Department has named the Knowles as a Principal
Responsible Party (PRP) for the contamination on the property on 102 S Wilson Way,
Stockton, California
The work involved would be to remove the contaminated soil from the northwest
corner of the site Defining the groundwater plume at the downgradient of the property
needs to be investigated also To facilitate this, additional wells will be installed to
replace the wells that have gone dry. Remediation alternatives to mitigate the
contamination in the groundwater and to prevent further migration of the plume offsite
needs to be explored
• In 1978, the then owner of the property, Pepsi-Cola, incurred costs for the removal of
four underground storage tanks The amount of that expenditure is unavailable. Pepsi-
Cola then sold the property to Roek Bros who incurred approximately $130,000 in
expenses for site investigation activities
