Drawer 20
Stockton, CA 95201-3020
Re: 102 South Wilson Way, Stockton
i
Dear Ms Zolezzi :
Enclosed are copies of Leedshill -Herkenhoff's (LH) Preliminary Investigation at
' 102 South Wilson Way, Stockton, CA. This investigation was performed per the
workplan dated September 12, 1989, as approved by the Regional Water Quality
Control Board and Public Health Services, San Joaquin County.
Five soil borings and two monitoring wells were installed on the property to
determine possible areas of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in soil and
groundwater, and to determine groundwater gradients. Laboratory analysis of
soil samples indicated that only one soil boring, TB5, located near the
northwest corner of the property, indicated significant concentrations of BTX&E
(benzene, toluene, xylene, and ethylbenzene) and TPH (total petroleum
hydrocarbons) as gasoline. All other soil samples showed nondetectable or
extremely low residual levels of BTX&E and TPH, levels which would not pose a
threat to the existing groundwater resources of the area, according to the LUFT
manual evaluation process. Groundwater sampling indicated high concentrations
of hydrocarbons in the groundwater near MW2 and MW5, and flow in a generally
easterly direction. Therefore, there is a concern regarding the possible
offsite migration of petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater.
LH recommends that a Phase II assessment be performed to better define the
lateral extent of the existing soil contamination found in the northwestern
corner of the property and to further address the groundwater problem.
It has been a pleasure working with you on this project. If you require
additional information please do not hesitate to contact Mike Tognolini or me
Very truly yours. _
ISS10
Gerry S.
