LM
LEED$HILL HEfiKENHOFF NC
RESULTS
4.1 SOIL SAMPLING
' As discussed in Section 3, Site Investigation, seven soil borings (TB5, TB6, TB7,
TB8, TB9, MW4 and MWS) were installed, representative soil samples obtained, and
analyses performed for both BTX&E and TPH as gasoline. Results from the soil
' samples are presented in Table 1.
As illustrated in Table 1, only soil samples obtained from boring TB5 showed
significant petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. All other samples collected
from TB6, TB7, TB8 TB9, MW4, and MW5 showed trace or non-detectable levels of
both BTX&E and TPH as gasoline. Hydrocarbon levels in TB5 increased with depth
to a maximum concentration at a depth of 15 feet and then decreased rapidly to
non-detectable levels at a depth of 30 feet.
' 4.2 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
As discussed in Section 3, five groundwater samples were obtained from MW1, MW2,
' MW3, MW4, and MW5. Analyses were performed for BTX&E and TPH as both gasoline
and diesel . Results from the groundwater sampling are presented in Table 2
As illustrated in Table 2, samples obtained from all five monitoring wells show
detectable levels of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, with MW2 and MW5 showing
significantly higher levels. No phase separated hydrocarbons were found in any
monitoring well .
4.3 GROUNDWATER FLOtl
The depths to tater in the five monitoring wells were measured on several
occasions, most recently on December 27, 1989 to determine the general direction
' and gradient of groundwater flog. Groundwater level data from this investigation
are tabulated below.
Groundwater Levels
Well No. RE!Z elevation ft Depth to Water (ftp Elevation 2/ (fu
MW1 16.41 52 06 -35.65
MW2 16.10 52.09 -35 99
MW3 16.54 52.48 -35.94
MW4 16.72 52.52 -35 80
MW5 16.90 52.94 -36.04
Top of casing reference point elevation, as determined by
licensed surveyor
z/ Elevation of water surface, December 27, 1989
r
