(Delta) is submitting
this addendum to the Preliminary Site Characterization Workplan, dated February 28, 2000 and
submitted by IT Corporation, for the ARCO Facility located at 130 South Wilson Way, Stockton,
California. This addendum addresses those conditions outlined by San Joaquin County, Public
Health Services, Environmental Wealth Division (PHS/EHD) in their Workplan Approval Letter,
dated April, 4, 2000. We have also included a schedule for performing the field activities and
reporting the findings.
Additional Groundwater MonitoHng Wells
Three additional 4-inch-diameter groundwater monitoring wells will be installed onsite. A total of six
wells, including the three well identified in the workplan, will now be installed. One of the three
additional wells will be located due east of the existing UST complex, near the station building. A
second well will be located in the north-west corner of the property, and the third well will be placed
north-east of proposed monitoring well MW-1 (as presented in Figure 2 of the workplan). The
remaining wells will be located as presented in the workplan. Three of the six borings will have
samples collected continuously. In the remaining three borings, samples will be collected every five
feet. The wells will be installed to a depth of approximately 60 feet bgs, though the actual depth may be
modified in the field based on subsurface conditions. The construction of the screen interval of each
well will be based on subsurfac:c material encountered, and will target preferential flow paths. Soil
sampling and well installation procedures will adhere Io those originally presenwd in the workplan.
The initial 5 feet of each bori ng wi I be advanced with a hand auger and/or posthole digger to reduce the
possibility of damaging underground utilities. Soil samples for laboratory analysis will be collected at
5-foot intervals during; the advancement of the borings using; a California-type, split-spoon sampler
equipped with three precleaned brass tubes. The ends ofthe bottom-most,intact tube from each sample
interval will be lined with Teflod"m sheets, capped, and sealed. Each sample will then be labeled, placed
Providing a Competitive Edge
