Well Installation Report <br /> ARCO Facility No 5469 <br /> Stockton,California <br /> Page 3 <br /> SITE INVESTIGATION ACTIVITIES <br /> The objective of the work was to further characterize the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> impact to soil and groundwater To accomplish this objective, the following activities were <br /> implemented <br /> • Drilled and installed three (3) 4-inch diameter groundwater monitoring wells to <br /> depths ranging from approximately 52 to 53 feet bgs using hollow stem augers <br /> • Collected soil samples in 5-foot intervals during the advancement of the well <br /> borings for field screening and laboratory analyses <br /> • Developed, sampled, and surveyed the newly installed wells <br /> Prior to initiating drilling activities, a well installation permit was obtained from <br /> SJCEHD Underground Service Alert, ARCO, and SJCEHD were notified 48 hours prior <br /> to beginning work activities Standard field practices and procedures utilized by Stratus <br /> personnel during work activities are described in Appendix A All work was conducted <br /> under the direct supervision of a State of California Professional Geologist A copy of <br /> • the drilling permit is included in Appendix B <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Soil Borings <br /> A Stratus geologist oversaw Gregg Drilling Company of Martinez, California (C-57 <br /> #485165), complete the drilling activities between February 13 and 14, 2006 The <br /> drilling was completed using a truck mounted drilling rig equipped with 10-inch diameter <br /> hollow stem augers Each boring was converted to a groundwater monitoring well, as <br /> described below The location of each well boring is included on Figure 2 and Figure 3 <br /> The initial 5 feet of each boring were advanced with air-knife and vacuum equipment to <br /> reduce the possibility of damaging underground utilities Soil samples were collected <br /> using a California-type split-spoon sampler equipped with three precleaned brass tubes <br /> The ends of the bottom-most, intact tube from each sample interval were lined with <br /> Teflon TM sheets, capped, and sealed Each sample was labeled, placed in a resealable <br /> plastic bag, and stored to an ice-chilled cooler Strict chain-of-custody procedures were <br /> followed from the time the samples were collected until the time the samples were <br /> relinquished to the laboratory Soils were classified on-site using the Unified Soil <br /> Classification System Boring logs detailing soil stratigraphy are presented in <br /> Appendix B <br /> K\13p-Arco for URS\5469\Reports\ARC05469-wellreport2446 doc SrKArus <br />
