26 September 1997
AGE-NC Project No 97-0330
' one sample for analysis TPH-d was detected in a soil sample collected from P-4 at 25 feet (P4-25)
at a concentration of 1 2 parts per million (ppm, reported as milligrams per kilogram) and from the
composited stockpiled soil (SP 1-3) at a concentration of 4,700 mg/kg The laboratory analysis did
not detect benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene or xylenes from any soil samples collected from P-4,
however, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene were detected from the composted stockpiled soil sample
at concentrations as high as 0 12 ppm
Samples P4-25 and SP 1-3 were analyzed for PNAs The laboratory atory analysis did not detect PNAs
from P4-25, however, fluorene, naphthalene and phenanthrene were detected from SP 1-3 at
concentrations of 1400 parts per billion (ppb, reported as micrograms per kilogram), 1600 ppb and
2400 ppb, respectively
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1 -Analytical Results of Soil Samples
Figures 3 depicts the estimated extent of contoured TPH-d concentrations beneath the site in cross
' sectional view The laboratory report (MAI Identification No 80395 to 80408) and chain-of-custody
are included in Appendix B
44 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
A total of two ground water samples from P-3 (P3-H20) and P-4 (P4-H20) were submitted to MAI
for analysis for TPH-d and BTEX TPH-d was detected in ground water samples collected from P-3
and P-4 at concentrations of 510 ppb and 70 ppb (reported as micrograms per liter), respectively The
laboratory analysis did not detect benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene or xylenes from ground water
samples collected from P3-H20 or P4-1-120
Samples P3-1UO and P4-1120 were analyzed for PNAs The laboratory analysis did not detect PNAs
from the two ground water samples
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 -Analytical Results of Ground
Water Samples The laboratory report (MAI Identification No 80399 and 80400) and chain-of-
custody are included in Appendix B
5-0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon field data and laboratory analysis of soil and ground water samples collected at the site
on 14 May 1997 and 02 September 1997, AGE concludes the following
Substantial concentrations of TPH-d were detected from soil probe boring P-1 at a depth of
Advanced GeoEnviromnentai,Inc
