Analytical results of the soil sample collected from
Boring #1 (B-1) at 10 feet below surface grade (bsg) were 11,000 parts per
million of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) and 1,500 ppm of
Xylenes, and from 15 feet bsg were 760 ppm of TPH-G and 16 ppm of Xylenes.
Analyses of remaining soil samples collected from B-1 at below 15 feet bsg, and
all soil samples collected from B-2, B-3, and B-4 were all non-detected at above
detection limits of TPH-G, aromatic Hydrocarbons (BTEX), and all five
oxygenates.
Based on data from nearby wells, groundwater is at approximately 44 feet bsg
with flow direction approximately southwest (with occasional reverse flow
direction to the northeast). PHS/EHD concurs with the report's conclusion that
the vertical extent of the impacted soil is limited to approximately 18 feet bsg.
PHS/EHD recommends submitting a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that evaluates
at least 2 remedial alternatives, and recommends the alternative that would be
the most cost-effective. Submit the CAP to PHS/EHD by May 15, 2000.
Page 4 of the report stated that "Hydrocarbons were detected in the soil sample
collected at a depth of 20 feet bsg in probing 133". Hydrocarbons were not
detected in the soil sample collected at 20 feet bsg. Xylenes were detected in
the soil sample collected at 15 feet bsg.
A 2000 foot radius receptor/well survey should be performed in accordance with
Appendix B of the Tri Regional Board Staff Recommendations for closure.
Addresses of all wells identified in the survey and their location on a map along
with any known construction details of the wells should be provided to PHS/EHD.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
