The flame-ionization detector (FID) screening results of -
headspace of soil samples from 10 feet bsg to 60 feet bsg were all above the detection limit of the FID at
10,000 parts per million (ppm). First groundwater was observed at approximately 50 feet bsg.
After discussions with Sean Garvey of Groundzero, San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) directed the soil boring be converted to a monitoring well
since it would be the most cost-effective approach. Sean Garvey decided to install a 20-foot screen
section for the monitoring well from 45 feet bsg to 65 feet bsg with the sand pack from 43 feet to 65 feet
bsg.
On February 23, 2000,depth to water was measured at 44 feet bsg in the monitoring well (MW-1). In a
telephone conversation with Greg Stahl of Groundzero,PHS/EHD recommended MW-1 be developed
and a groundwater sample be collected and submitted for analyses by March 3, 2000 before groundwater
could rise further above the top of the screen. PHS/EHD also recommended collecting and analyzing a
groundwater sample from the monitoring well in the street (Wilson Way) next to this site. The well
(MW-7)was originally installed by SOTA Environmental Technology,Inc. as a part of a Local
g
ro
Oversight Program investigation for U-Haul Moving Center located across Wilson Way from this site.
g g
Permission for accessing this well should be obtained from U-Haul.
Please contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Division
s
Jeffrey Wong, REHS Margare agorio,REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region-Marty Hartzell
c: Groundzero-Greg Stahl
i
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
