It may be necessary to use a <br /> hand pump to remove the bottom few inches of product. <br /> 3. Remove the fill (drop) tube. Disconnect the fill, gauge, and product lines. Cap or <br /> Plug open ends of lines which are not to be used further. The vent line should <br /> remain connected until the tank is filled as outlined below. <br /> 4. spec. <br /> Remove flammable vapors accordingly to paragraph #5 in the Pm=al Section of this <br /> 5. Proceed to introduce a suitable inert material thraxjh the fill and pump ends as <br /> required to maintain a constant level. concrete vibrators shall be used at both ends <br /> to provide proper compaction. <br /> a. Sand and cement slurry mix shall be used to fill the calculated capacity of the <br /> tank until the tank is full arra overflows the fill openings. <br /> b. The Contractor shall provide proof of delivery of the sand slurry to the city of <br /> Lodi. <br /> 6. Disconnect and cap the vent line. <br /> 7. When underground tanks are abandoned in place, the owner of the tank should keep a <br /> permanent record of the tank location, the date of abandonment, and the method of <br /> conditioning the tank for abandonment. <br /> 50.03 EXCAVATION AND BACKF= OF UNDE R TANKS <br /> EXCAVATIONS: Excavate only' to the depths required by the plans, or as instructed by <br /> Owner Representative. If unexpected water condition or rock is encountered, <br /> immediately contact the Owner's Representative for instruction before proceeding with <br /> the excavation. VERIFY TEIAT EXCAVATION IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH TANKAN <br /> MUFACIURER'S <br /> SPECIFICATIONS. <br /> i <br /> 1. TANK HOLE SIZE: Size excavation perimeter to allow 24" minimum between tanks <br /> and 12" minimum between tank sides and end caps and the wall of the tank hole. <br /> 2. Filter fabric will be used to line tank hole and cover granular backfill. <br /> 3. DEPTH OF TANK HOLE: Contractor is repsonsible for establishing the tank hole <br /> depth, considering the length of piping runs, to the pump blocks and vent <br /> risers, pipe burial depth, yard slope and the following criteria: (Measure at <br /> the Remote Pump opening) . <br /> a. A minimum of 12" backfill material is required under the tanks, except as <br /> note on the plans. <br /> b. The minimum depth of cover for steel tanks is 4'-0" and the maxhmnn is 7'-0" <br /> 0" (not to be exceeded) . <br /> c. Product lines shall be sloped 1/4" per ft. down to the tanks. Minimml sl <br /> ope <br /> is 1/8" per ft. <br /> 6. 14 <br />
