A representative of
GeoAudit will supervise and direct the excavation and will collect all necessary soil samples.
To meet the project objectives, the following activities will be performed:
1) Prepare a site health and safety plan in accordance witlr-Oompational Safety and
Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (Prepared by National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
2) Notify PHS/EHD 48 hours prior to field work.
3) Excavate the contaminated soil using an excavator.Trace levels of toluene and xylene
were detected at approximately 35 feet BGS. The approximate area to be excavated
is 36 feet x 20 feet. Assuming the removal of contaminated soil to approximately 40
feet BGS,the volume of soil that will be removed is approximately 1,100 cubic yards.
4) As excavation proceeds, monitor excavated soil for the presence of volatile organics
using a photo-ionization detector(PID).Soil will be segregated into"clean"stockpiles
and "contaminated" stockpiles based upon PID measurements.
G.obpal Audit Servicr.Le
2
907/i-9VBIJOOYes.p!
