The highest PTD readings recorded were from Boring B-
8 which was drilled approximately ten feet to the southwest of
the tank .;xcavatlon area. A PID reading of 38 ppmv was first
recorded in the soil sample collected at sixteen feet. PID
readings were recorded in the samples down to just above the water
table (twenty one feet - 190 ppmv, twenty six feet - 180 ppmv,
thirty one feet - 120 ppmv). Total hydrocarbons were detected by
laboratory analysis at 1,100 ppm in the sixteen foot sample with
highest gasoline related constituents being xylene at 34,000 ppb,
ethylbenzene at 5,390 ppb and toluene at 5,100 ppb. The
concentrations of total hydrocarbons and gasoline related
constituents were below detectable limits in the remaining fifteen
sail samples analyzed.
VI. CONCLUSIONS
Gasoline related constituents are present in the soil
adjacent to and below, the tank excavation area. The sample
-- collected from Boring B-8 at a depth of sixteen feet had a PID
reading of 38 ppmv. This was the only soil sample analyzed in
which the concentrations of gasoline related constituents and
----.—_..---------------------._..__.._....__.--total.....hydrocarbons _were...above- detect ion---1imits.._._.The--soil--sample.._.._._._.._.,.__..-------- __..------------------------------.._._
collected at a depth of twenty one feet in Boring B-15 had a PIA
