Soil samples were collected from the excavation,dispenser <br /> area, and stockpiles for laboratory analyses <br /> On March 17, 1999, Steve Sasson and Matt P ker witnessed the installation of new <br /> USTs at the site. <br /> On March 22, 1999, Krazan&Associates azan), contracted by Ecology Control <br /> Industries (ECI) who was retained by Pontes uicki-Kleen Carwash, collected <br /> additional soil samples in the dispenser area for laboratory analyses without <br /> notification and presence of PHS/EHD staff Krazan also over-excavated <br /> approximately 29.63 cubic yards of contamin ted soil (10 feet by 10 feet by 8 feet <br /> deep)beneath the east dispenser island, and 41.44 cubic yards of contaminated soil <br /> (10 feet by 12 feet by 10 feet deep) beneath tl te West dispenser islands at the site <br /> without PHS/EHD knowledge or approval. Steve Sasson was subsequently notified <br /> of the over-excavation in a telephone convey ation with Krazan representatives on <br /> the same day. <br /> On March 25, 1999, Steve Sasson directed Bruce Myers of Krazan to submit the <br /> sampling analytical report with an addendum explaining the events of March 22, <br /> 1999 to ECI. <br /> On March 26, 1999, Krazan submitted a cop of the report of the analytical results <br /> of the soil samples collected on March 22, 19 99 via facsimile. <br /> On April 23, 1999, Steve Sasson noted the excavated soil had been placed on the <br /> adjacent lot east of Pontes Quicki-Kleen Carvash site. He also noted that the <br /> excavation had been filled. The material used to fill the excavation has not been <br /> reported. <br />
