URS
' Mr. James Barton Page 7 of 8
California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
April 29, 2010
RECOMMENDATIONS
• The approved work plan for the installation of off-site groundwater monitoring wells should be
implemented, upon appropriate approval.MTBE was detected this quarter at 17821 Airport Way
at 17 gg/L, and previous quarters reported MTBE up to 80 µg/L.This domestic well is located
approximately 1,000 feet to the north of the site. The lack of MTBE detected in neighboring
domestic wells near 17821 Airport Way emphasizes the need for further assessment. The
installation of additional off-site monitoring wells will assist in determining the relationship
between the MTBE plume and the hydrogeology of the drinking water aquifer in the
neighborhood.
• A plan should be put into place to address possible future MTBE impacts to neighboring
domestic wells which are currently without treatment systems.
• Following installation and sampling of the new groundwater monitoring wells, a problem
assessment report, feasibility study, and remediation plan should be prepared for the site.
• A groundwater remediation system should be installed and operated to treat the petroleum-
impacted groundwater, which is impacting off-site domestic wells.
• Quarterly groundwater monitoring should continue.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact Mr. Vern Elarth at
(916)679-2299.
' Sincerely, ED GE
URS Corporation Americas ' N?AU( OC
l/
NO. 7120
M cie Redmond Vernon P.
