f i
REMEDIATION SYSTEM'S OPERATION OVERVIEW
Pump and Treat System
The P&T system was turned off by ASE personnel on February 28, 2002 That
system no longer operates
Air-S arging/Vapar-Extraction System
The ASNE system operated sporadically during the months of August a n d
September 2002 due to
• poorly operating fuel distribution components on the IC engine,
• continued failure of the air-sparging delivery piping due to excessive
blower-air temperatures
The fuel delivery components were replaced on the engine and a heat
exchanger was designed and installed to cool the blower-air temperature
Flow Rate
While operating, the system infected an average of 51 cubic feet per minute
(cfm) of air into the 7 AS well manifold, and extracted an average of 74 cfm o f
petroleum-hydrocarbon laden air from the 7 VE well manifold The IC engine
operated typically at 1800 RPM On June 10, 2002, ASE closed VE-1 and AS-1 j
to increase the vacuum and infection rate to the remaining wells VE-1 and
AS-1 are positioned in an area of low hydrocarbon concentrations
Maintenance
The IC engine was turned off each 220 to 250 hours of operation to perform
routine maintenance activities Scheduled maintenance included lube, oil a n d
filter for the engine and blowers, and draining of the moisture knock-out
drum
Frank's One Stop Remediation System Monthly Report — August & September 2002
-2-
