MONTHLY FUEL RECOVERY CALCULATIONS
Mass Removed by AVVE Sy.yte
The influent TPH-G concentration in air was used to calculate the estimated
mass removed from the vadose-zone beneath the site during the month based
on the volume of air removed The Monthly Mass Extraction Calculations are
presented as Table Two It shows that based on an average extraction flow
rate of 76 cfm, and assuming a constant TPH-G concentration of 3,100 ug/l i n
the influent air stream, the system recovered 3 38 gallons of gasoline per day
from the vadose-zone The system operated all 31 days in the month, and thus
104 78 gallons of gasoline were extracted from the vadose-zone during the
month To date, the AS/VE remediation system has recovered and remediated
290 70 gallons of gasoline at the site A graph showing the influent air
concentration of TPH-G over time is presented in the graphs section of this
report
Rennrt Errors and Correctrnn.c
Within the ASE May and June 2002 Remediation Effectiveness reports, an error
• was made by ASE in respect to the units on the Kiff Analytical air sample
results The error was not noticed until the analytical results for the July 2002
air bag sample were received The last 3 analytical reports from Kiff (May,
June and July 2002) have reported the influent concentrations of analytes in
parts per million by volume (ppmv) ASE has always requested that the Kiff
reports show concentrations in micrograms per liter (ug/L) The data within
ASE's May and June 2002 reports assumed the concentrations of analytes were
in ug/L when in fact they were reported as ppmv When converting, it was
realized that the influent concentration of analytes was off by an order of 3 -4
times
ASE caught the error before preparation of this report, and requested Kiff
report the July air sample in ug/L. ASE has also within this report
• changed Table One to reflect the corrected May and June 2002 analytical
results,
• changed the graph to reflect correct influent concentrations of TPH-G
for May and June 2002,
• adjusted the Total Gallons Extracted To Date value on Table Two to
reflect the corrected mass destruction calculations for May and June
Frank's One Stop Remediation System Monthly Report — July 2002
- 3-
