" i
SUSPENDED OPERATION OF P T
& SYSTEM
' ASE suspended operation of the P&T remediation system on February 2 8,
2002 This was done for the following reasons
' • The ASNE system is now operating continuously and its influence
covers the area previously treated by the recovery wells
' • We are interested in seeing if groundwater concentrations rebound
after the system is turned off
The degree of bio-fouling within the recovery wells has increased
' significantly since the start-up of the ASNE system The P&T system
is therefore only recovering a fraction of the groundwater it is
capable of recovering We believe the recovery rate will continue to
' diminish regardless of the efforts made to periodically remove the
slime from within the well casing
IConcentrations of hydrocarbons in the influent water stream are
currently at near historical lows We believe that with the operation
of the ASNE system, the previously recovered groundwater will n o w
lie be sparged and the hydrocarbons extracted from the vadose-zone
wells
ASE has no intention of removing the P&T system or GAC canisters from
the site ASE recommends re-evaluating the need for the P&T system after
reviewing the analytical results from the next two quarters of
groundwater monitoring on and off-site Quarterly monitoring is
scheduled for the months of March and June 2002 ASE discussed o u r
plans with our client and Ms Lori Duncan of the San Joaquin County PHS-
EHD on February 26, 2002 Ms Duncan gave her verbal approval of t h e
suspension of the P&T system operation until further evaluated in t h e
following quarters
I
Frank's One Stop Remediation System's Monthly Report — February 2002
-5-
