r. a, <br /> . placed in-line as GAC #2 and GAC #3 <br /> 1 <br /> Hydrocarbon Breakthroug-h <br /> Based on analytical results of the water sample collected from GAC #1 on <br /> January 24, 2001, ASE became aware that TBA had broken through t h e <br /> first carbon vessel Based on analytical results of the water sample <br /> collected from GAC #2 on that same day, no hydrocarbons or oxygenates <br /> were released to the Manteca Sanitary Sewer Line <br /> Flow Rat,- <br /> During <br /> ateDuring the month of January 2001, the system treated 215,030 gallons of <br /> groundwater This volume is down from last month because at various <br /> times during the month, only four wells were pumped instead of all five <br /> One well at a time was taken out of service to clean and replace parts of <br /> the clear hose connecting the down-hole piping to the individual NEEP <br /> System venture valves The system was off due to a power failure in t h e <br /> second week of the month followed by a high-level switch alarm during <br /> the same week The system was off in the final week of the month due t o <br /> a faulty transfer pump timer switch, which was replaced the following <br /> day In general, each well in operation typically removed 1 5 to 1 8 <br /> gallons of groundwater per minute <br /> EFFLUENT AND INFLUENT SAMPLE C LLECTION AND ANALYSE'S <br /> Effluent Water ,Sn.rnj2les <br /> Water samples were collected and analyzed on a weekly basis by ASE t o <br /> determine the performance of the GAC vessels, per the City of Manteca <br /> Sewer Discharge Permit The samples were collected from the effluent <br /> side of the various GAC vessels When GAC #1 and GAC #2 were sampled, <br /> ASE also collected a sample from the next vessel in series and placed it o n <br /> HOLD at the laboratory, as a back-up in case the sample being analyzed <br /> showed breakthrough All of these samples were analyzed by Kiff <br /> Analytical of Davis, California (FLAP #2236) for a full scan EPA Method <br /> 8260B which includes total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G), <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (collectively known as BTEX), <br /> and the seven fuel oxygenates, and for TPH as diesel by EPA Method 8 015 <br /> At no time during this month's operation, did the effluent entering the <br /> sewer line contain any detectable concentrations of any of the compounds <br /> tested The effluent water sample analytical reports and chain of custody <br /> records are attached in Appendix B <br /> Prank's One Stop Remediation System Monthly Report — January 2001 <br /> -2- <br />
