. (downgradient) of the site An alternative source of potable water h a s
been provided to residents of all properties that had concentrations of
MTBE and/or 1,2-DCA in their domestic well, with the exception of 238
Airport Way, which is a condemned property The San Joaquin County
Public Health Services has specifically requested that an alternative water
source not be provided to anyone that may be living at the condemned
property
Two of the wells that contained MTBE, including one of the wells which
contained MTBE at concentrations exceeding the DHS MCL for drinking
water, had gasoline powered pumps which could possibly have been the
source of the MTBE These were the domestic well located at 238 Airport
Way and the irrigation well located at 17886 South Airport Way
It should be noted that 1,2-DCA has never been detected in any of the
groundwater samples collected from the Frank's One Stop property Two
former gasoline service stations were formally located across West
Yosemite Avenue to the north between the affected wells and Frank's One
Stop One of these former stations could possibly have been the source of
the 1,2-DCA It is our understanding that the former station on the
northwest corner of the intersection was a Chevron or Standard Oil
. station, and 1,2-DCA is a common additive in Chevron fuels where it is
marketed as Techron All of the wells that contained 1,2-DCA were
located on the west side of Airport Avenue and north (downgradient) of
the former Chevron/Standard Oil station
No MTBE or 1,2-DCA was detected in groundwater samples collected from
wells east, west or south of the site Low concentrations of 1,2-DCP,
below the DHS MCL for drinking water, were detected in a well east of t h e
site, however, it is ASE's opinion that it is highly unlikely that this 1,2-DCP
concentration is related to a source on the Frank's One Stop Property In
addition, a low concentration of PCE, as well as an undetermined
concentration of extractable range hydrocarbons (such as diesel or oil),
was detected in the irrigation well for the Manteca Municipal Golf Course
Given the PCE concentration and distance to the site, it is highly unlikely
that the contamination in this well is related to a source on the Frank's
One Stop property
7 . 0 RECOMMENDATIONS
A workplan was submitted on September 29, 2000 for additional work
• related to the Frank's One Stop project ASE will perform the work
specified in the workplan during the next quarter
Frank's One Stop Area Well Sampling Report — October 2000
-16-
