. 15 soil samples were collected along the pipelines Up to 9,600 p p m <br /> TPH-G, 9,900 ppm TPH-D, 9 7 ppm benzene, 500 ppm toluene, 190 p p m <br /> ethyl benzene, 1,100 ppm total xylenes and 10 ppm MTBE were detected <br /> in soil samples collected along the pipelines Other compounds detected <br /> in the soil samples collected along the piping were up to 2 3 ppm vinyl <br /> acetate, 15 ppm isopropylbenzene, 5 1 ppm n-propylbenzene, 330 p p m <br /> 1 ,3,5-trimethylbenzene, 910 ppm 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, 2 3 ppm sec- <br /> buylbenzene and 140 ppm n-butylbenzene Approximately 726 tons of <br /> contaminated soil were overexcavated from the former tank excavations <br /> and were disposed of at the Altamont Landfill in Livermore, California <br /> 2 . 5 August 1998 Area Well Sur vey <br /> In August 1998, Remedy, Inc conducted an area well survey foi the site <br /> and identified 46 drinking water wells within 0 5 miles from the site, <br /> including a di inking water well on-Site Groundwater samples were <br /> collected from the on-site drinking water well in July 1997, Januazy 1998, <br /> Apiil 1998 and July 1998 Up to 24 ppb 1 ,2-dichloropiopane was <br /> detected in groundwater samples collected from the drinking water well <br /> 2 .6 Anril 1999 CPT Borings <br /> In April 1999, ASE drilled soil borings CPT-13 and CPT-14 at the site using <br /> a CPT direct push drill rig (Figure 3) Groundwater samples were collected <br /> from the borings at 40-feet bgs, 70-feet bgs and 117-feet bgs using a <br /> SimulProbe sampler Relatively low petroleum-hydrocarbon and VOC <br /> concentrations were detected in the groundwater samples collected from <br /> the CPT borings It is interesting to note that the petroleum-hydi ocarbon <br /> concentrations detected in both of these CPT borings were approximately <br /> five times higher at a depth of 70-feet bgs than at 40-feet bgs The only <br /> hydrocarbons and/oi VOCs detected in the groundwater samples <br /> collected from 117-feet bgs was 69 ppb TPH-G and 4 6 ppb 1 ,2- <br /> dichloropiopane The only concentration detected in any of these <br /> samples which exceeded a California Department of Health Services (DHS) <br /> maximum contaminant level (MCL) for drinking water was 48 p p b <br /> benzene detected in the groundwater sample collected from 70-feet bgs in <br /> boring CPT-13 All of the other concentrations detected were below DHS <br /> MCLS for drinking water <br /> 2.7 __�Ly_, 1999 Menyt�ring W�Lu Installat3en <br /> .
