 rr
s1 r
1 . 0 INTRODUCTION
Aqua Science Engineers, Inc (ASE) was contracted by Mr Frank Gutnta,
property owner of The Fi auk's One Stop service station located at 2072
West Yosemite Avenue in Manteca, Calitoinia, to remediate elevated
petioleum hydrocarbon concentrations identified in groundwater and Soil
beneath the subject site (Figure 1) ASE prepared a workplan for t h e
installation of an air-spaiging/soil vapor-extinction (AS/VE) remediation
system dated August 3, 2001 This workplan was subsequently approved
by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Envitonmental health
Division (PHS-EHD) in their letter dated September 6, 2001 (see Appendix
A)
2 . 0 WELL DRILLING PERNUTS
Prior to drilling, ASE obtained a dialling permit from the San Joaquin
County PHS-EHD Copies of these permits are located in Appendix B
Underground Service Alert (USA) was notified to have underground
public utilities marked in the site vicinity
3 . 0 REMEDIATION WELL DRILLING
3 ._1 Air Spaiging Wells
The remediation system incorporates the use of seven (7) air-sparge (AS)
wells (Figure 2) During the air-spargrng test conducted in August 2000,
the AS radius of influence was shown to be at least 40-feet based o n
positive pressure tests and water table mounding measurements To be
conservative, ASE assumed an area of influence of 20-feet and thus a
spacing of 40-feet for AS wells across areas of the site with elevated
hydrocarbon concentrations
Between November 27 and 29, 2001, West Hazmat Drilling Corp of
Rancho Cordova, California drilled AS wells AS-1 through AS-4 and AS-6
and AS-7 at the site using a drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter
hollow-stem augers One AS well was previously installed by ASE in
August 2000 This well was previously named AS-1, but was renamed in
November 2001 to AS-5 to fit within the current numbering sequence
The wells were constructed with 2-inch diameter, flush threaded, schedule
40, 0 020-inch factory slotted PVC well screen and blank casing The AS
• wells are screened between 17 and 19-feet bgs to allow for spargrng at t h e
bottom of the unconfined aquifer Just above the silty clay layer Blank
casing was installed above this screened interval Lonestar #2112 sand
Frank's One Stop ASNE Remediation System Installation Report — February 2002
-1 -
