.} 1 . 0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the methods and findings of Aqua Science Engineers, <br /> Inc (ASE)'s video log and cement-bond log assessment of area domestic <br /> and irrigation wells within the general vicinity of Frank's One Stop located <br /> at 2072 West Yosemite Avenue in Manteca California (Figures I and 2) <br /> The wells surveyed for this project were the four domestic wells where <br /> methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) was detected in groundwater samples <br /> at concentrations exceeding the maximum contaminant level for drinking <br /> water These wells are located at 17950, 17926, 17904 and 17933 <br /> Airport Way Also included were the two wells located at 17886 Airport <br /> Way On the 17886 Airport Way property, groundwater samples collected <br /> from the irrigation well contained low MTBE concentrations However, <br /> groundwater samples collected from the domestic well on the same <br /> property did not contain detectable MTBE concentrations The purpose of <br /> conducting the survey on these wells was to determine whether well <br /> construction plays a role in why MTBE was detected in one well and n o t <br /> the other, and to determine whether the domestic well has a proper seal <br /> to allow the well to be placed back into service <br /> 2 . 0 DOMESTIC WELL ASSESSMENT PREPARATION <br /> On January 11 and 12, 2001, Zim Industries (ZIM) of Fresno, California <br /> prepared one (1) irrigation and five (5) domestic wells for video and <br /> cement-bond logging To prepare the wells, ZIM personnel opened the <br /> wells to be surveyed and removed the well pump and piping All well <br /> casings were determined to be steel and were cleaned using a steel-wire <br /> brush to remove rust, silt and organically derived deposits that may have <br /> accumulated over time This allowed the actual steel of the casing to b e <br /> viewed during the video logging to better determine the construction of <br /> the wells After brushing, water was removed from the well using airlift- <br /> technology until the water being removed from the well was clear Notes <br /> regarding the condition of the wells upon first inspection during the <br /> preparation of the wells and depths of the pump intakes are presented in <br /> Appendix A <br /> 3 . 0 VIDEO LOGS AND CEMENT-BOND LOGS <br /> On January 22 and 23, 2001, Welenco, Inc of Bakersfield, California <br /> collected video log and cement-bond log data from one (1) irrigation a n d <br /> five (5) domestic wells The video logs were collected using a down-hole <br /> video camera capable of both down-hole and side-view camera angles <br /> Welenco's notes and photographs collected during the video logging are <br /> Franks One Stop Report — February 2001 <br /> - I - <br />
