1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Project Site
The subject property is located at 2072 W Yosemite Avenue in Manteca, California at the
intersection of Yosemite Avenue and Airport Way (Figure 1) The site is on the southeast corner of
the intersection in a commercial and residential area The site currently has several uses including a
filling station and convenience store, automobile repair, U-Haul truck rental and propane sales The
site is currently owned and operated by Mr Frank Guinta
1.2 Background
Tank Removals Soil Borings and Sampling b Geoaudit Inc.
P g Y
A Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report was prepared by Geological Audit Services
(GeoAudit), Inc of Stockton, California in February 1995 The work was performed for the
Bank of Stockton The GeoAudit report stated that in September 1994 three 1,000 gallon motor
oil tanks and one waste oil tank had been removed from the site They reported that there had
been no significant contaminants found at the time of the tank removals
IIn addition, GeoAudit drilled 10 mechanical borings and three hand augered borings on the site
They collected and analyzed 21 soil samples and nine groundwater samples GeoAudit reported
18,000 ppm TPH-d, 1400 ppm TPH-g, 1 2 ppm ethylbenzene and 8 3 ppm xylenes at a depth of
three feet in boring IW, hand augered boring adjacent to the diesel dispenser, east of the UST
location They also reported 590 ppm TPH-g, 9 1 ppm TPH-d, 2 5 ppm benzene, 4 4 ppm
toluene, 2 4 ppm ethylbenzene and 1 2 ppm xylenes at a level of 15 feet bgs in boring GBS,
approximately 50 feet northwest of the dispenser islands, near Yosemite Avenue (see Site Layout,
Figure 2)
Soil Borings and Sampling by Remedy, Inc.
In April 1997, Remedy completed ten (10) soil borings at the site The Remedy borings were
advanced around the fuel tanks and dispenser islands The borings were completed using Geo-
Probe equipment The final depth of borings was approximately 16 feet
Groundwater was found at a depth of approximately p app o mately 12 5 feet below ground surface (bgs)
Several soil samples were reported to contain petroleum compounds The highest levels were
found in borings B-2 and B-3, east of the dispenser islands The soil sample from boring B-3, at
a depth of 12 feet, was reported to contain 880 ppm (mg/kg) TPH-g, with 9 2 ppm MTBE, 0 89
ppm benzene, 15 ppm toluene, 10 ppm ethylbenzene and 63 ppm xylenes
The majority of the groundwater samples from both investigations were found to contain
petroleum compounds The highest levels were found in samples from borings B-2, B-3 and B-5
with B-3 showing the highest levels These were all near the dispenser islands The sample from
Franks One Stop, 2072 W Yosenute Ave , Manteca, CA August 11, 1998
Well Survey Report File 015-WS RPT
1
