The costs for each option are listed below. These costs include equipment
and supplies, ASE and subcontractor labor fees, sample analysis fees,
permits, etc.
Method I - GAC System @ $7,500 per property
(ASE estimates that this type of system could be
used at 9 properties) $67,500.00
Method II —Air-Stripper and GAC System @ $15,000 per property
(ASE estimates that this type of system could be
used at 2 properties) $3,000.00
Total Amount to Install Wellhead Treatment Systems
At All Affected Properties $ 97 , 500 . 00
As for operation and maintenance of these systems, both are designed to
operate automatically, requiring typical, routine maintenance activities.
Each quarter, a water sample should be collected and analyzed to confirm
the system's performance.
This quarterly sampling and reporting is budgeted up to approximately
$1,285.00 per quarter per treatment system. Annually, the O&M, sampling,
and reporting costs for all eleven systems could be as high as $56,500.00.
Should a major problem occur with one of the systems such as a faulty
motor, defective hose, cracked GAC canister, etc., the cost to repair o r
replace such items will be billed at ASE labor rates, plus materials at cost
plus 1517o. The cost for recycling of the GAC canisters is not included in the
quarterly costs. When necessary, each GAC canister will cost approximately
$675.00, which covers the cost for recycling, ASE's labor, and shipping,
ASE anticipates that this option would be acceptable to most of the
residences. The up-front costs are significantly less than those of Option 11;
however, when one includes the cost for annual O&M, in three years Option
III will likely exceed the total of Option 1I. Option II also has no end point.
Although the O&M, sampling and reporting schedule could be reduced, it
can never be completely ommited.
-6-
i
