Landau Senior Engineer California Regional Water Qualitv Control BoardyE ✓0,9 3201 S Street -14 h4 ,tV Sacramento, California 95816-7090 SpR/OC�q� Re: Your Letter of 28 February 1985 Dear Mr. Landau: The Director of Public Works, Mr. Michael Brinton, has provided me with a copy of the letter written by Mr. Gary Reents of your staff on your behalf concerning the City of Manteca' s wastewater treat- ment plant operations . As you are well aware, the City of Manteca is proceeding with the completion of plans and specifications for a major expansion of its wastewater treatment plant for the purpose of adding capacity to the existing system. Municipal bonds have already been sold to finance the local share contribution. Construction is expected to begin by June 1985 with plant completion expected in late 1987. In April 1984 , the Manteca City Council implemented an increase in sewer service charges to finance expansion. In addition, the City Council recognized the importance of adding interim capacity to the present system by leasing over 80 acres of land for additional waste- water disposal. Details of this interim expansion will be provided by the Department of Public Works as you requested in your letter. I have spoken with Mr.Brinton and Mr. Mueller about your statement that direct discharges are occurring to the South San Joaquin irrig- ation District drain. I am informed that pour information on this matter -is not accurate. A supplemental report will be provided to you by the Department of Public Works . The members of the City Council and I maintain an active interest and concern for the proper operation of our wastewater treatment facility.
