Backus, Garrett
From: Smith, Lisa <Ismith@stocktonport.com>
Sent: Monday, November 18, 2019 2:50 PM
To: Backus, Garrett
Cc: 'Bret Smith'; Smith, Falynne; Cashman,Jason; Ruvalcaba, Cesar
Subject: RE: Port of Stockton/ Inspection Response - SPCC Plan
Attachments: IMG_0104.jpg; 2019 11 18 Hazardous Waste-Metal Grindings.pdf; 2019 11 18
Hazardous Waste Container.jpg
Mr. Backus,
We have researched the "Violation 102-CCR 66262.11 dated 10/13/17" regarding the metal fines: the following is what
we have concluded.
Our Maintenance Department here at the Port of Stockton have been made aware of the past violation and have made
the following corrections for their future operations for the grinders in their shop:
1. Two signs has been placed near the grinders/(see attached photo)
2. Metal grindings will be collected as generated and placed in hazardous waste/labeled container(see attached
photo)
3. Containment trays have been placed under all grinders (see attached photo)
4. Material collected will be sent within the 90 day timeframe to a metal recycling facility
In response to the statement made that the previous metals during 2016 timeframe were taken for analysis, but no
analysis had been conducted/we have researched all our 2016 records and find no samples of metal grindings were
taken or sent anywhere for analysis. Again, all future metal grindings will be handled as instructed according to Title 22
hazardous waste regulations.
Please let me know if you have any further concerns or questions regarding this particular violation.
Thank you for assisting the Port of Stockton.
Sincerely,
Lisa
Lisa J.
