26 May 1998
AGE-NC Project No 96-0266
' area of the former East UST suggests a release time of less than fifteen years in age The
MTBE remaining below the dispenser is a possible contributor to the detected MTBE in
ground water at the site
• The greatest concentrations of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in samples
collected from MW-1,near the former West UST location and MW-5 located down-gradient
' from the former East UST area
• Hydrocarbons were not detected up-gradient or down-
gradient of monitoring well Dissolved
hydrocarbons were: detected at low concentrations down-gradient from well MW-5 The
' apparent down-gradient extent of hydrocarbons is defined by wells MW-3 and MW-5
• Diesel-impacted ground water appears to be limited to the southwest portion of the site, and
may be related to the former fuel transfer station on the adjacent property
• No ground water wells used for agricultural, domestic water or private water within 2000 feet
of the site were identified
• 6 0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of this investigation, AGE recommends, the following foi your consideration
• Quarterly ground water monitoring should continue The next monitoring event is scheduled
for May or June 1998
• An additional ground water monitoring well located east of the Eastern UST would be
benifical for the lateral delineation of the dissolved hydrocarbons at the site
7.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
' environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made fiom a limited number of
' available data points (i a grab ground water, soil samples and monitoring well samples) and
subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or
implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
