INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with the request of Union Safe Deposit Bank, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc <br /> ' (AGE) has prepared the enclosed Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) for 345 <br /> Yosemite Street, Stockton, California(the site) The ob)ective of the investigation was to determine <br /> the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted and metals-impacted soil and ground water <br /> ' at the site The scope of work included the advancement of fifteen soil probe borings and two <br /> shallow soil borings, and the collection and analysis of soil and grab ground water samples The <br /> ' location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 - Location .Vap Structures, probe boring and soil <br /> sample locations are shown on Figure 2 - Site Plan <br /> The work was conducted in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Region of the Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board (CV-RWQCB) guidelines for investigation of underground storage tank <br /> ' (UST) sites <br /> 20 BACKGROUND � m <br /> 2 1 SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION <br /> 1 <br /> The site is located in central Stockton, California(Figure 1) Two main compounds of structures are <br /> ' located on the property (Figure 2) Most of the site was used as a ship building warehouse from the <br /> early 1910's through the mid 1980's Additionally, a plating shop has occupied a building in the <br /> northern portion of the site (Building 1) since the early 1950's The remaining portions are presently <br /> ' occupied by an auto repair shop, a tile showroom, a sheet metal shop and a boat storage facility <br /> Results of historical research effected by AGE, indicated that a 4,000-gallon gasoline UST is <br /> ' presently located inside Building C (Figure 2) <br /> ' 2 2 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> One 550-gallon gasoline UST was removed from the City of Stockton right-of-way in May 1986 <br /> ' Total volatile hydrocarbons (TVH) and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and <br /> xylenes BTE&X) were detected at concentrations as high as 2,000 parts per million (ppm) in a <br /> single soil sample collected from the UST excavation A letter from the PHS-EHD,dated 07 March <br /> 1996, indicated that further investigation related to the former UST would be required before site <br /> closure could be issued <br /> 1 <br />
