A temporary PVC well screen
will be installed within the open borehole. Groundwater samples will be collected using a clean stainless steel
bailer lowered into the temporary well. Groundwater samples collected will be submitted to a California state-
certified testing laboratory for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel(EPA Method
8015, modified), oil and grease (Standard Method 5520 E&F), volatile organic compounds (EPA Method
624), and priority pollutant metals (EPA Method 6000/7000 series). These analytes have been selected based
on common chemical use practices for the types of businesses which previously occupied portions of the Site
and contaminants reported to be released at nearby sites.
An additional groundwater sample will be collected from the on-site domestic water well, if the pump
headworks are still in place and operational. The groundwater sample will be submitted with the groundwater
samples collected from the eight soil borings. The groundwater sample will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel(EPA Method 8015, modified), oil and grease(Standard Method 5520
E&F),volatile organic compounds (EPA Method 624),and priority pollutant metals(EPA Method 6000/7000
series).
Report Preparation
Following completion of the field activities and receipt of chemical testing results, SECOR will prepare a
technical report describing the findings of the Phase I1 ESA.
SCHEDULE
SECOR is prepared to begin work immediately upon obtaining approval of this Work Plan and H&S Plan from
the SJCEHD. We have tentatively scheduled the drilling of the eight soil borings for May 14 and 15, 1997.
Laboratory analyses will require approximately two weeks from the submittal of the samples. The technical
report documenting these activities will be submitted to the SJCEHD within four weeks from receipt of all
analytical data from the laboratory.
If you have any questions or comments, or require additional information, please don't hesitate to call either
of the undersigned at(415) 882-1548.
Sincerely yours,
SECOR International Incorporated
Na A.
