Yosemite Ave. (Highway 120)
Manteca, CA., 95336
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD)
has reviewed the April 6, 1998 report from Pacific Environmental Group, "Soil Sampling
Results for Station Upgrade" received on April 8, 1S98 and has the following comments.
Elevated levels of petroleum constituents have bee detected in the soil under each of
the four dispensers on the two islands located at this site. In order to determine the
extent of the contamination, PHS-EHD will require further investigation.
Due to the dark colored sandy soils with strong pet oleum odors left in place after the
limited over-excavations on January 14, 1998 and the shallow groundwater known to be
in this area, a groundwater and lateral I vertical soil plume delineation investigation is
warranted. A workplan that includes soil and groundwater sample collection
throughout the site is to be submitted to PHS-E D by June 19, 1998.
A boring permit application, the $89 fed, and a site pecific safety plan should also be
submitted with the workplan.
Please direct your correspondence to Michael Infur a, Senior RENS, and you may tali
him at (209) 468-3454 should you have any questions or wish to discuss the site.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Enviro mental Health Division
Michael J.
