In this work plan CRA
proposes to advance one cone penetration testing (CPT) boring onsite to further assess the
vertical extent of impacted groundwater and three CPT borings offsite to further assess the
lateral extent of impacted soil and groundwater to the north and east of this site.
CRA proposes to advance borehole CPT-1 to approximately sixty feet below grade (fbg)
approximately ten feet directly south of monitoring well MW-3. The CPT boring will provide
a continuous log of computer-interpreted soil types to help identify optimal locations for
collecting depth-discrete grab groundwater samples from approximately three borings
advanced adjacent to CPT-l. EHD approves the advancement of CPT-1 and associated borings
as described, noting that soil samples will not be collected from any of these boreholes.
CRA proposes to advance borehole CPT-2 approximately ten feet east of the former
underground storage tanks on the adjacent property located at 1140 West Yosemite Avenue,
and CPT-3 and CPT-4 in the center divide of West Yosemite Avenue approximately 50 feet
north-northwest of MW-3 and 55 feet north-northeast of MW-4, respectively. Soil samples
will be collected at five-foot intervals, and based on log data generated by the CPT equipment,
groundwater samples will be collected at first encountered groundwater from boreholes
advanced adjacent to CPT-2, CPT-3, and CPT-4. Soil and groundwater samples will be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPH-g);benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene,
and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA);
and 1,2-dicholorethane (1,2-DCA). EHD approves the work plan as described for the
advancement of CPT-2, CPT-3, and CPT-4 with the condition that an effort be made to collect
the groundwater sample from course-grained soil.
