Yosemite Avenue
Manteca, California
IT Corporation Project No. 781723
Dear Mr. DeNinno:
IT Corporation submits this letter as a work plan for an additional site investigation at the subject site
(Figure 1 and 2, Attachment 1). This scope of work is presented in response to a telephone conversation
with the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) on
October 26, 1999. The work scope includes collection of background information, the drilling and
sampling of three soil borings, installation of monitoring wells in the borings, collection of groundwater
samples from the monitoring wells, liquid level gauging of monitoring wells, and preparation of an
assessment report summarizing the methods and results of the work performed. Details of the scope of
work are described below.
BACKGROUND
On December 9, 1998, three 10,000-gallon steel single-wall underground storage tanks (USTs)were
removed from the site (IT Corporation, January 1999). Six soil samples were obtained from the base of
the UST pit, and two soil samples were obtained from beneath the pump islands and associated fuel
dispensing piping. Tank pit soil samples were collected from about 14 feet below grade; pump island area
samples were obtained from depths of about 4 feet below grade.
All soil samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, xylenes (BTEX), total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G), and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D) by EPA Methods
8015/8020. Analysis for methyl-tert-butyl ether(MTBE) and other oxygenates was performed using EPA
Method 8260.
21756wkp-4TR
