03/16/2001 11: 33 2094671 AGE STOCKTON . PAGE 08
12 March 2001
AGB-NC Project No. 97-0333
Page 5 of 8
• Permitting,planning and pre-field work activities;
• Drilling and well installation;
• Aquifer pump test;
• Report of findings.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD). As required by PHS-EHD permitting, a
health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance
Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to
drilling activities, each proposed drilling location will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. GROUND WATER EXTRACTION WELL INSTALLATION
AGE proposes to install one six-inch diameter ground water extraction well screened 15 to 35 feet
bsg and one two-inch diameter observation well screened 15 to 35 feet bsg. The proposed ground
water extraction and observation wells will be screened in the upper half of the First Zone ground
water. Cross sections C-C'and D-D'depicting general lithology beneath the site are included Cone
Penetrometer Testing Site Investigation-Fourth Quarter 1000, dated 07 February 2001 (Figures 3
and 4).The proposed ground water observation wells will be placed in areas of known ground water
MTBE-contamination at the site.Based on the MTBE-impact encountered during the investigation,
AGE proposes the ground water extraction well to be located approximately 20 feet south of ground
water monitoring well MW-2; the ground water observation well should be located approximately
10 feet south of MW-2 (See Figure 2).
Following well installation, each well will be developed to maximize water flow into the well and
minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing.
Procedures for well installation and development are presented in Sections 4.2 and 4.3,respectively.
3.3. AQUIFER PUMP TEST
Following well installations, a twelve-hour First Zone aquifer pump test is proposed at the site to
Adva.ced GwEnvlronmental,Inc.
