<br /> 1 reviewed the Groundwater Monitoring Event, First Quarter 2012 (Report), submitted by Ami Adini &
<br /> t Associates, Inc. (AA&AI), consultant for Fassel &Amal Elder. Maximum groundwater monitoring
<br /> concentrations in January 2012 were total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), 2,420
<br /> ' micrograms per Liter (ug/L); benzene, 30.6 ug/L, toluene, 16.9 ug/L; ethylbenzene, 235 ug/L; xylenes,
<br /> 752 ug/L; methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE), 2,100 ug/L; and tert amyl methyl ether (TAME), 59.4 ug/L.
<br /> On 6 February 2012, Regional Board staff met with Sean Elder and AAAI, to discuss a strategy to
<br /> achieve site closure in a cost effective and reasonable time frame. Subsequently staff presented a
<br /> schedule to include limited monitoring during the second and third quarters of 2012, submittal of a work
<br /> plan to investigate the lateral extent of the offsite groundwater plume and an evaluation (Evaluation)
<br /> with recommendations whether additional remediation is warranted. Per emails between AA&AI and
<br /> myself, the following due dates were agreed: Monitoring Reports are due 30 May 2012 and
<br /> 30 August 2012; the above Work Plan is due 30 May 2012, and the Investigation Report is due
<br /> 30 August 2012. The Evaluation shall be included in the 30 August 2012 Monitoring Report.
<br /> Please measure water levels in all wells for groundwater flow directions and gradients, and sample the
<br /> ' following wells for TPHg, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, MTBE, TAME and tertiary butyl
<br /> alcohol: MW-2, Ill MW-6, I'll 1111i EW-1, EW-2, and EW-3. If you have questions,
