' Community Health and Safety Plan
RAINWATER CAR WASH,Manteca,California 95336 Page 6
Mav 30, 2012
Task 1: Site Task 2: Utility Task 3: Air Task 4: Soil
Potential Hazard Mobilization Clearance Monitoring Groundwater
Sampling
Traffic Moderate Moderate Moderate Moderate
Noise Moderate Low Low Moderate
Trips/falls Low Low Low Moderate
Utilities Low Low Low Low
Electrical Loi' Low Low Low
Illumination Low —co w —Cow Low
Flammable hazards Low Low Low Low
Biological hazards Low Low Low Low
' Other Low Low Low Low
Exposure to elevated levels of hydrocarbon vapors presents potential health risks that must be properly
understood and controlled. These vapors constitute a health hazard when inhaled, and they present a fire or
explosion risk when they accumulate in an explosive mixture with oxygen. Where elevated exposures risks are
determined to exist, respiratory protection will be the primary control method to protect personnel from inhalation
' of hydrocarbon vapors.
5.2 Chemical Hazards
Chemical hazards of concern(COCs)associated with the site operations that are covered by this HSP include
gasoline,VOCs,fuel oxygenates, and heavy metals.Exposure to the aforementioned COCs can occur via
inhalation of chemical vapors and gases, inhalation of contaminated dust and soil particles, and dermal contact
with contaminated soil. The COCs at the site include the following:
• BTEX
• DIPE
• ETBE
• . Methanol
' Ethanol
• Lead
• MTBE
• TAME
• TBA
• TPHd
•
TPI-Ig
• TPHo
' In California, permissible exposure limits(PELs)for COCs are found in CCR Title 8,Section 5155.PELs refer to
the maximum allowable airborne concentrations of hazardous substances and represent concentrations at which it
' is believed that nearly all the workers may be repeatedly exposed, eight hours per day,for a 40-hour workweek,
without adverse effect. However, due to the wide variation in individual susceptibility,a small number of workers
may experience discomfort to some or all of these chemical substances at concentrations equal to or below the
P
EEL.A still smaller percentage of persons may be affected more seriously from exposures at or below the PEL
AmiAdmt
 V&Assocmte,Anc.
1
