Invoice 45794(12/10/2018) <br /> stated that the"battery cables have acid on lugs",and that the tops of the batteries were cleaned off. Invoice 47346 <br /> (7/3/2019)stated"clean acid powder from battery compartment,wipe down with neutralizer." The wastes generated <br /> from these invoices were taken away from the facility by the contractor on non-hazardous waste manifests. The <br /> facility did not have any battery acid waste on site. <br /> REGULATION: Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste as specified <br /> in Title 22 California Code of Regulations(CCR). There are wastes that are listed as hazardous wastes. There are <br /> wastes that exhibit one or more of the hazardous waste characteristics:toxic,corrosive, reactive or ignitable. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately cease disposal of any generated battery acid, make a complete hazardous <br /> waste determination,and begin to manage it according to Title 22 CCR. Use Safety Data Sheets(SDS),waste <br /> sampling and test results or other knowledge to support your hazardous waste determination. Waste testing must <br /> be done using methods specified in Title 22 CCR including sections 66261.20-24. Submit a statement and <br /> supporting documentation describing how battery acid waste will be handled once it is generated. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 104 CCR 66262.34(d)(2)No modified contingency plan. <br /> OBSERVATION: A complete modified contingency plan was not posted at the facility and the emergency <br /> coordinator was incorrect.
