GROUND WATER AQUIFER PUMPING TEST
' On 05 April 2001, a ground water aquifer pumping testing was performed at the site to assess the
general ground water aquifer characteristics and to assess aquifer response to ground water extraction
utilizing wells EW-1, MW-1, MW-2,MW-3 and MW-6 at a constant pumping rate, purged ground
' water was containerized in an on-site 6,500-gallon poly tank(Baker tank)
3 1 FIRST WATER ZONE AQUIFER PUMPING TEST, 05 APRIL 2001
I
i
Ground water pump testing consisted of extracting First Water Zone ground water from well EW-1
at a rate of 6 gallons per minute (GPM), First Water Zone was informally identified in Cone
Penetrometer 7Testing Site Investtgattn -Fourth Quarter 2000, dated 07 February 2001 as a potential
hydrogeologic unit between 15 and 47 feet bsg
The pumping test consisted of extracting ground water from well EW-1 at a rate of 6 GPM utilizing
a 4-inch diameter submersible Grundfos Redi-flo pump The pumping test was terminated after 7
hours because the electrical power cord to the Grundfos pump control box was accidentally
disconnected at the electrical outlet, due to the apparent stability of ground water drawdown at wells
' EW-1, MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-6, AGE determined that the data collected from thet7-hour
pumping test was adequate to evaluate general ground water aquifer characteristics at the site
1 The pump test utilized 7/s-inch diameter, model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure transducers that
were deployed in wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-6 and EW-1 Each pressure transducer was
preprogrammed prior to the pumping test to log water levels at one-minute intervals Copies of
pressure transducerwater level data logged from MW-1,MW-2, MW-6 and EW-1 are in Appendices
C, D, E and F, respectively Semi-loganthmic plots of draw-down versus time for MWA, MW-2,
MW-6 and EW 1 are in Appendix G
' During the constant rate pumping test (6 0 GPM), the maxiumum ground water drawn-down in
extraction well EW-1 was observed to be 2 27 feet after 193 minutes of pumping operation
' (Appendix C) maximum draw-down was observed in wells MW-6 (located 8 feet towards the
north) at 0 53 feet after 280 minutes of pumping operation(Appendix D), draw-down was observed
in well MW-2 (located 1S feet towards the north) at 0 40 feet after 325 minutes (Appendix E), draw-
down and was observed in wells MW-1 (located 49 feet towards the south) and MW-3 (located 46
4dvanced GeoEnironlnt nW Int
1
