22 June 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0333 <br /> Page 6 of 10 <br /> approximately 1,900 feet northwest of the site (Sensitive Receptor Survey, dated 08 September <br /> 2400) To protect these wells and to comply with the RWQ+CB letter directive,dated 02 March 2001, <br /> AGE proposes to install, operate and maintain an tntenm ground water pump-and--treat remediation <br /> system utilizing ground water extraction well EW-1 with a dedicated low-flow ground water <br /> submersible pump The goals of this interim remediation -effort are <br /> • To inhzb5t migration of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water off-site, <br /> • To decrease the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon-plume, <br /> • To provide some degree of Immediate relief and protection for the endangered drinking water <br /> wells, and <br /> • To protect the beneficial use ground water supply <br /> Based on conditions encountered during the ground water aquifer pumping test on 05 April 2001 <br /> (capture zone estimated at 140 feet), a low-flow ground water pump-and-treat system appears to lac <br /> an effective method for ground water interim remediation at this Site <br /> Based on RWQCB and PHS EIJD letter directives to install and continuously operate a pump-and- <br /> treat 5ystciI1 In the area of the highest grounds water MTBE contamination (Appendix A), AGE <br /> proposes to install a dedicated low-flow ground water pump In EW-1 and initiate ora-site interim <br /> remediation utilizing a pump-and-treat"technology Drilling and interim remediation actin mes will <br /> consist of the following tasks <br /> • Permitting and pre-field work activities, <br /> • Dedicated ground grater pump Installation, <br /> • Pumping and temporarily storing produced ground water, <br /> • Properly disposing of produced ground water, <br /> • Preparation of quarterly reports <br /> 3 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTW ITIES <br /> Applicable site permits will be obtained from the city of Manteca(i e discharge,building,electrical <br /> etc ) In addition, an update to the health and safety plan presently on-file will be prepared 313 <br /> accordance with Occupational Safety, and Health Guidance Manual far Hazardous Waste Slit, <br /> Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard <br /> and U S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985) Prior to mobilization, all underground trenching <br /> Advanced t'eoFw ironmcntaI,Inc <br />
