07 May 1998
AGE-NC Project No 97-0316
The northern and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been designated the
Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,respectively
Based on the General Soil Map from the San Joaquin County Soil Survey, published by the United
States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1992,the site area is within the Delhi-
Ventas-Tinnin(DVT)association The DVT soils are located within dunes, alluvial fans and stream
terraces along the Stanislaus River, and generally consist of well drained coarse textured soils The
soils are generally derived from both marine and non-marine sediment, and are generally formed in
alluvium derived from granitic and mixed rock sources
23 GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
The estimated depth to ground water at the site is between 15 and 20 feet below surface grade (bsg)
based on information from Lines of Equal Depth of Water Wells Spring 1996, published by the Safi
Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation Distnct (SJCFCWCD) Based on
review of a regional ground water elevation map published by the SJCFCWCD, the prevailing
ground water flow direction in Manteca is generally toward the northwest, although flow directions
may be both locally and seasonably variable
30 SCOPE OF WORK
Pnor to removing and replacing the USTs at the site,an environmental assessment will be performed
at the site to determine if hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water is present Soil probe
borings will be advanced near the existing US I's and dispenser areas Soil and/or ground water
samples will be collected and submitted to a state certified laboratory for analysis of petroleum
hydrocarbons
3 1 PROBING AND SAMPLING
AGE proposes to advance at least two angled soil probe borings to depths of approximately 20 feel
bsg and at least four vertical probe borings to depths of approximately 10 feet bsg Soil probe borings
will be advanced using a Geoprobe 5400 soil probing unit equipped with 1 125-inch diameter probe
rods and an attached 2 15-inch diameter soil sampler The soil sampler will be loaded with clean
1 125-inch by 6-Inch brass sleeves Probe borings will be advanced near the UST, piping and
dispenser areas Proposed soil probe boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2
Advanced GeoEnnronmental,Inc
