Quarterly Report - Fourth Quarter 2003 <br /> RAINWATER CAR WASH r <br /> ' <br /> 420 West Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California <br /> ' II <br /> 4 0, INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> k <br /> °At the request of Mr Phil Elder, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this <br /> ' quarterly report for 420 West Yosemite Avenue (the site), Manteca, California The report ' <br /> documents procedures and results for ground water monitoring and interim ground water 'remediation <br /> performed at the site between September 2003 and December 2003 (fourth quarter) The site setting ' <br /> E is Illustrated on Figure 1, site'structures and monitoring well locations are depicted on Figure 2 <br /> The enclosed report was prepared in accordance with guidelines established by, the California <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for investigation of underground storage tank <br /> I <br /> (UST) sites Background information and a description of prior investigations at the site were <br /> included in Appendix A of Quarterly Report- Third Quarter 2002,dated 06 December 2002 <br /> The objectives the of fourth quarter investigations were to characterize,assess and monitor dissolved <br /> ' petroleum hydrocarbons and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) concentrations in ground water, to <br /> characterize ground water flow direction and gradient and to continue interim remediation through <br /> O ground water extraction and treatment at the site The following is a brief summary of fourth quarter <br /> site assessment and Interim ground water remediation activities performed at the site <br /> I <br /> • Between 10 September to 18 September 2003 and 20 October to 26 December 2003 - <br /> ',I Continued pump-and-treat interim remediation utilizing on-site extraction well EW-1, <br /> discharged approximately 205,130 gallons of treated ground water into City of Manteca <br /> , <br /> sanitary sewer system <br /> } Between 18 September and 20 October 2003 -Due to detection of tert butanol(TBA)at the <br /> effluent on 14 August, 10 September and 18 September 2003, ground water extraction and <br /> treatment operations were suspended The groundwater treatment vessels were back-flushed <br /> on 24 September 2003,however,the 24 September grab water sample collected at the pump- <br /> and-treat effluent continued to detect TBA <br /> 1 I • ' On 14 October 2003'-Aground water`rebound'response test was performed at the site from <br /> wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3 and MW-6 <br /> I .I r <br /> • On 20 October 2003 -Ground water extraction and treatment operations restarted following <br /> removal and replacement 3(change-out) of 4,006 pounds of coconut shell,;liquid phase ' <br /> granular activated carbon (GAC) from the 3ra (GAC-3) and 4`h (GAC-4) in-line treatment <br /> media vessels on 08 October 2003 Confirmation'grab water'samples collected at the pump- <br /> �and-treat effluent on 13 October 2003 did not detect any TBA <br /> 110 September, ,27�October, 19 November,and 26 December 2003 - Monthly`monitonng <br /> I event's,at the ground water extraction ands treatment remediation system, extraction well <br /> I` EW-1 was in operation <br /> t I Advanced GeoEnvironcnental,'Inc <br /> I, I <br />
